DIY MOVIE PARTY DECOR

signboard minutes

Doing a decor for our backyard movie party is a little tricky. We were so excited, but we didn’t want it to be, you know, too much.  So we tried to stay focus and keep it simple and sweet!

When planning the decor for #MinutesToMidnight, we designed the moodboard based on ‘Before Sunrise’ and ‘Before Sunset’ movies’ color tones. Next step..we applied the color palette from the moodboard into the poster and decor elements. Luckily, some walls were already gray-painted so we just needed to add a little dash of yellow and black here and there. All of the decor things you see here was upcycled from used stuff or made from inexpensive materials you can easily find at the nearest store around you.

For the signboard, we cut a used card box into an arrow-shape, wrapped it with a yellow duct-tape, and wrote the event’s name with a permanent marker. At the registration area, the guest was greeted with hanging paperplanes made from old book pages and yellow papers. As for the popcorn bag given to the guest after registration, we made a popcorn sign, printed it on a brown paper (we use samson paper, but you can use kraft paper or nasi uduk wrapper as well) then fold it into a paperbag. Another decor on the registration area was a quartet of simple mobile hangings made from spray-painted branches, fabric strips, and masking tape mini bunting.

THE ORIGAMI RIBBON

oribbon-feature

A couple of days ago we received a mini challenge from Gudily to try to make an oribbon. This origami ribbon actually already caught my attention when we visited Gudily’s booth at ARTE Indonesia last March. So when the challenge came, we accepted it happily!

oribbon-foto1

Oribbon is a sticky paper with scored lines along its surface. Designed by Japanese designer, Azumi Mitsuboshi, a single sticker sheet of Oribbon can be turned into a three dimensional ribbon, with wide possibilities of variations. In a package of Oribbon you will get six long sheet in three different colors. There’s an instruction on how to fold the ribbon. But you can find more Oribbon tutorials here.

oribbon-foto2

Just peel, fold, then stick your ribbon to gift boxes and hampers. Another idea is to use it to embellish your handmade cards. For example, draw a bunch of balloons on the front side of the card. Then attach the bowtie-shapped Oribbon on the balloons knot, and you have a special birthday card! You can also use the oribbon as a unique cupcake topper! Here i made the bondage shape and add tiny circle sticker (you can use little Tom & Jerry dots label) with a monogram. Then attach a toothpick at the back, and stick it on the top of the cupcake.oribbon-foto3

Oribbon cannot be reattached multiple times, so be careful when you make it for the first time. Lots of practice would help. Here’s a tip: don’t throw away the yellow backing paper after you peel the sticker sheet. The backing paper also has a scored lines so you can practice to fold an Oribbon with that paper instead of the sticker. Then, when you’re already learn the technique, you can fold the sticker sheet in the same way. It’s cute and fun to make!

COLORFUL PUSH PIN

Why go plain when you can go colorful? Instead of those boring plain tacks, you can have a pretty colorful push pin just in minutes! All you need is a plain push pin (flat one works best), some nail polish, and a small bottle of nail top coat.

LL-pushpin-foto1

Pin the tacks on cork board or styrofoam to make it easier for you to color it. You can also stick it into an eraser if you don’t have any cork board. And then you can apply any color on its flat surface with nail polish brush. Pattern-free, stripes, polkadots, or whatever you please. Let the first color dry for a couple of minutes, before adding another colors. You can add small details like heart, star, or anchor with a toothpick or a nail art pen. After the whole design is finished, let it dry then give a thin layer of top coat to seal it and make it shines.

Here are some examples of the push pin we’ve made in candy colors and nautical theme.LL-pushpin-foto3a

You can even apply some nail art stickers onto the push pin if you want. Simple, quick, and lovely, with endless possibility of design. Go try it!

And as a bonus, we also made a short tutorial video. Thank you so much Hamam, Nady, Yudha and Aditya for helping us with the video. Enjoy :)

CLIP IT WITH STYLE!

Wooden pin is a classic choice to display your favorite photos. Some people like it plain and natural, so it’ll match any kind of colors. But playful is fun, so let’s put some colors on, with MASKING TAPE!wooden-pins-washi-1

The good thing about this fun little project is if someday you want to go with classic natural pins again, you’ll just need to remove the masking tape. :)

DIY 20s LACE HEADBAND

Thank you, Atri! :) LL DIY headband lace 1 Bahan-bahan

  1. Aplikasi lace (Rp15.000).

Selamat berkreasi!

LL DIY AMESH

We’ve got company! Ingat postingan tentang Workshop In A Box di awal bulan ini? Simple, affordable, yet adorable!
