It was a plain white room with a small yellow door on the side. But the woven tapestries add a good amount of colors to make the room less boring without being too colorful. We kept adding more and more woven craft pieces made by the participants of Afternoon Delight: Weaving Session. And those wall hangings were the stars of our event last weekend.
Weaving might be one of the ancient crafts in the world, but it never gets old. This therapeutic craft allow us to focus and get creative. And learning new things is always a good idea, so this year we introduced basic weaving skill on our Afternoon Delight event series with Nike Prima and Svasti Manggalia from Svas Living.
This 2015’s first Afternoon Delight took place in our soon-to-be studio. The sessions started with Nike who shared her early introduction to weaving and her inspirations. Then it was Svasti Manggalia’s turn to share a bit about Indonesia’s weaving, tenun. Svasti is the founder and creative director of Svas Living. Svas Living has been known for its good quality home and living products, and we really heart Svas Living’s simply designed handwoven rugs.
It was really fun to see these girls tried to get their hands on learning new things.
We got lots of treats from our sponsors. Wunderbar provided us with their chocochip brownies, hazelnut brownies, red velvet brownies, and some yummy salted caramel choco pie.
While on the day 2 participants get to enjoy savory delicacies from Saved By The Ballen who provided their homemade bitterballen with two choices of delicious dips: honey mustard and cheesy jalapeno. Some of the participants couldn’t stop saying how good these bitterballens were.
And not to forget the gourmet ice cream maker Eskimomo. They gave cups of unique flavors for us to try, like salted caramel popcorn, chocolate orange, choco mint, coffee honey almond, and earl grey ice cream. We wish we could try every single flavor so we could tell you how good these sweet treats were, but well..we had to share them with the participants, right? Haha.
Each participants also get goodie bag and voucher from our partner, Bobobobo and a newly released Indonesia series notebook by Heimlo. Heimlo’s founder, Tommy also paid a visit on Day 2. Thank you for coming, Tommy!
Oh and do you remember about Boskke skyplanters from our friends at Owloook? We got the pink and blue hanging planters for two lucky participants.
And thank you to our good friend, Kitty Manu who had helped us a lot. Kisses and hugs! We can’t wait for your weaving result. and to Puri of Idekuhandmade, thank you for the little bags.
And last but not least, thank you so much to all the participants of Afternoon Delight: Weaving Session. Please share us your weaving results with the social media hashtag #LLweaving #weaversID. Still curious about this weaving workshop? Here’s the video about the weaving session, editted by our friend, Sida Ainur. Thank you, Sida. Enjoy the video, folks!
